Beginners Shopify Guide
Signing up with Shopify and starting your store could not be easier and they even offer a two-week trial to get you going. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to launch your Shopify store.
Sign up with Shopify
To begin with, you need to visit the Shopify website. Enter the required details and click on the ‘Create your store now’. You need to choose a name for your store that is distinctive or Shopify will require you to pick something else. After this initial screening, you will have to fill in a few more details such as a contact number, country, address, and your name. You will also have to say what your products are, and what you intend to sell.
Set up your online store
After signing up, you will have direct access to your store admin screen. Now, you are ready to begin modifying the look of your online store, upload products and set up shipping and payment.
Select a layout or theme
Shopify has its individual theme store. These themes guarantee complete support from the designers, so you can be sure that your store is in good hands. All themes come with a detailed list of adjustments. The premium themes come with more modifications, but that is not to say that you cannot achieve a good looking site with a free one.
Control Shopify settings
Most of the Shopify themes allow you to make simple changes that can immensely change the look of your online store. As such, you can relax knowing that you will not end up with a site that looks similar to thousands of other stores. Select ‘Themes’ from the left-hand navigation menu on your admin screen. On this page, you will see your live theme in a box at the top and in the top right-hand corner of the box, will be two buttons. One of the buttons allows you to make a replica of the theme while the other one says ‘Customize Theme’. Clicking on the second button takes you to a page where you can test out all the features and find out what your site can do.
Add your products
Traversing from the bar on the left, select ‘Products’ and you will see ‘Add a product” button in the top right-hand corner of the page. When the following screen comes up, use it to add as many details as you need about your products.
Go live with your store
Before your site can go live, you need to add a few more details about your business and how you plan to pay tax and make deliveries. To get your site live, you will need a domain name. You can buy a domain for Shopify and have it automatically added to your store, or buy from a third party.
Tentatively, you can have a fully-functioning and attractive e-store in less than an hour. This way, you can devote your time to marketing your products rather than maintaining your site.
